Railing questions
Glass or aluminum railings?
Glass keeps the view open and looks modern, but needs cleaning. Aluminum pickets cost less, need almost no upkeep and hide dirt. Many clients use glass facing the yard and aluminum on the sides.
When does a deck need a railing?
The Ontario Building Code requires guards on raised walking surfaces above a certain height, with rules for guard height and openings. We build railings to the code for your deck height.
Can you replace railings on my existing deck?
Yes. We check the posts and how they're fastened to the frame first, since a railing is only as strong as what it's attached to.
Do aluminum railings work with composite decks?
Yes. Aluminum railings are one of the most common pairings with composite decking.
